Lent is probably one of the more well-known seasons of the church year. It begins on Ash Wednesday and ends the day before Easter. Since the date of Easter changes, Lent also falls at different times each year. In 2016, Easter falls on one of the earliest dates possible, making Lent early as well. The color for Lent is purple.

Lent lasts for forty days.
